六活指腕、肘、肩、腰、胯、膝身体六个部位要圆活、灵巧。通称腕、肘、肩为“上三活”,腰、胯、膝为“下三活”。上三活便于手臂屈伸、旋转,可增大上肢的运动幅度,使各种爪法之间,以及各抓法的喷扣拽、顶扣送变化自如。
